  1. What you constantly and deliberately ignore is that Dr. Gonsalves often talks the Marxist talk but always walks the capitalist walk.

Indeed, SVG is far less socialist than America, Great Britain, or Canada.

The only substantial socialist sector is the bloated and incompetent civil service.

The Gonsalves regime has sold hundreds of acres of precious land earmarked for tourism all across the country, nothing a true socialist would ever do.

Conversely, he has not expropriated or purchased any businesses or industries for state ownership and management, and is only building two hotels on the mainland to be managed by foreign capitalist interests because no external tourist developers were interested in doing so after years of government effort.

Moreover, much of the education and medical system, most of the banking and security systems, and all of the transportation system are in private hands.

    Some socialist!

    1. David, like most socialist leaders socialism only applies to those below them. The
Gonsalves live the life of a dynastical king and royal family whilst the people go hungry and the medical services fail.

More people are saying SVG is now totally under the control of CUBA they are our
Masters and the Gonsalves are their administrators.

  2. One of the most brilliant exposé articles I have ever read. What an eye opener even if your not Vincentian. Its great to know about the filth that goes on in other islands.

The Caribbean is full of dirty politicians, every where you look, everywhere you turn, and its almost always linked to socialist leaders.

    1. What exactly did this “brilliant expose” actually expose except for Parnel Campbell’s visit to Cuba, of which I was not aware or had forgotten about because it was such a trivial issue?

A careful reading of the defeated 2009 constitution would show that many features of the 1979 constitution were retained with the notable except of conversion of SVG from a parliamentary system with the British Queen as head of state and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council as the final court of appeal to a republican system with a President and no Privy Council.

It was the loss of their beloved Queen and equally beloved Privy Council of Law Lords that lead to the sound defeat of the referendum. It had nothing to do with socialism, nothing to do with Cuba, nothing to do with Castro, and nothing to do with democratic rights which would have actually have been strengthened by the new constitution.

  3. Mr Green I know you must have something to say on this matter so why have we not heard from you, I only come to this site because you do. Your commentary is usually more interesting than the original story. Wake Up!

  4. Very good article. All the talk of socialism is/ was just a front to fool ordinary people. For example, In Grenada we almost got trapped by one of those kind of non-working class intellectuals who were born with privilege and also benefited from slavery.

They are the modern days Massa in costume masquerading as champion of ordinary people. And the best way to figure out these intellectuals, you just have to double cross them. Then they will treat you no different from how slaves masters treated captured runaway slaves.

It seems as though some Caribbean countries are experiencing the reincarnation of some slaves masters in a mystic cycle.
